Well, since we all wanna get or already have Tekken, I think that it would good for us to learn how to play the game. www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3DT6-oOZroThis is a web series started out by MYK and Rip (nobody cares about TRUE!), and its amazing, it really informative and teaches the basics of how to play the game. iamtekken.com/This is an amazing site also web mastered by MYK, he does a lot of podcast's that will help out new players (again), and has some articles that are somewhat useful. The System page is very useful as is the frame data page. tekken.reepal.com/index.php/tbt/Throw break trainer. pretty self explanatory and very useful. www.tekkenzaibatsu.com/Good site, amazing info about character and kinda of a lengthy read though. There is VITAL info about your character there and you MUST read it.

do you want pizza that i bought from a store
or
this maritime meal that is pretty much tomato soup mixed with cheese, milk and other stuff on toast? (its really good, like orgasmic)
AND DO NOT FORGET TO BRING T5.
EAMON PLEASE NOTE: 4:30-45 SECONDS INTO PART 5 OF EPISODE 1.

To get better just practice a lot, and make unique combos. Nuff' said.

Well yeah, but you want the combo's to do the most amount of damage, and judging from your distance, either go for an early bound or save it for the wall etc. I guess you didn't watch the video... you also want to learn how to break throws (very important), learn how to distance yourself and other stuff... besides, how can you practice if you don't know how what to practice or how to defend yourself.
Tekken 5 has a record function which lets do some moves (up to about a couple minutes) and then you can play it back to yourself as the opposing player. That's an amazing feature that Bamco was stupid enough to leave out in T6 (sorry Eamon) but it's probably going to be in a patch (steal Shang's wifi thing).
You can't really practice online either because of lag and face it, it's much harder to put 3D fighting games online then 2D because of how much more complex (sidestepping and blah) 3d fighting games are. Anyhow they also epically failed the super "hyped up" online.
Edit: It's okay, at least he mains Lars...

supposedly they are planning on fixing the lag in a patch. I don't see how a patch will change much, but one can hope.

i know that alisa sucks its just that you dont know how to counter her. I prefer lars he is prettyfast but he hits hard. He has terrible recovery time. Im going to try and get two arcade sticks for christmas.

You know what the best way to get better at tekken is? Playing an bunch of different people with different styles in an arcade or arcade-like setting. Too bad we don't have a real arcade and nobody in victoria plays tekken. Next best thing: Actually playing the game. (you just lost the game) We need to play more with each other and work on fundamentals. plus, picking one character and sticking with him/her. Suiken has proved that lei is the best any character can be good with practice and dedication. www.shoryuken.com/content/don-t-train-hard-train-smart%2521%2521%2521%2521-47/nice article on training.
