If you run any video recorder while actually playing it will destroy your fps. Unless you have a beast of a system. That is where demos come in. Demos are an easy of recording gameplay in any source engine game.(tf2, css, l4d, etc.) They take up very little space and don't really affect your fps. But there are problems with recording demos. If you bind a key to record a demo and then try to make another demo using the same key your demo will be overwritten and you just get pwned. Here is an easy fix to that problem: halflife2.filefront.com/file/MultiDemo_Recorder_Script_For_Source_Engine_Games;35233take the cfg file and place it in your cfg folder. for tf2 it will be steam\steamapps\(insertusername)\team fortress 2\tf\cfg simply copy the file into the cfg folder and when you start up the game type "exec demorecorder" into console and then type in "bind o demo" if you need to. (i'm not quite sure if u have to type that last one) (console is enable through keyboard settings->advanced and then check the box) press ` to open up console. its above tab. then go ahead and join a game and press o to start recording the demo. press o again to stop recording. Starting a new demo is as simple as pressing o again. Now to view the demo you just recorded type "demoui" into console. a little box will appear and then all you need to do is click on the load button and select your demo. wait a few seconds and the demo will load up. simple eh? actually this is really easy stuff.
